Always get clarification from your doctor or pharmacist and read the label. Use the medicine exactly as directed.

Take sucralfate on an empty stomach.

Before measuring a dose from an oral suspension (liquid), shake the bottle well. Dosing should be done with the supplied syringe or a suitable alternative (not a teaspoon).

Be sure to keep a close eye on your blood sugar levels if you have diabetes. Depending on your current blood sugar levels, your doctor may decide to change your dosage.

It is absolutely critical that you never inject the fluid form of the medication into the body with a needle. Oral administration is the only method for administering sucralfate oral suspension.

Taking sucralfate may take 2 to 8 weeks to receive the full benefit. Use the medicine for the full prescribed length, even if your symptoms quickly improve.

Your doctor may want you to take sucralfate at a lower dose once your active ulcer has healed. Always strictly adhere to your doctor's recommended dosage.

Keep out of the fridge, freezer, and microwave, and at room temperature. Be sure the drug doesn't freeze.
